NFL Draft 2020: 13 Biggest Picks You NEED To Know
7. Inside Linebacker - Patrick Queen
Round 1: Pick 28
Since 1996, the Baltimore Ravens have had Ray Lewis or CJ Mosley lining up as middle linebackers for consistently strong defenses. In 2019, with Lewis long since retired, both Mosley and Terrell Suggs left in free agency. Perhaps not without coincidence, last year's Ravens were more known for their offense, led by Lamar Jackson, rather than their defensive prowess.
GM Eric DeCosta addressed this when LSU's Patrick Queen fell to them at the 28th overall pick. Considered a top-20 talent in this year's draft class, Queen was always projected to be an immediate starter. Being the fifth linebacker taken in the first round should provide him with the extra motivation to prove himself and play with a chip on his shoulder. Though a bit undersized, Queen should show value in his first year with his versatility and pass rushing ability.
Queen will join a retooled defense that brought in defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Derek Wolfe, fellow 2020 draft mates Malik Harrison and Justin Madubuike, and returns stars Earl Thomas and Marcus Peters.
