NFL Week 1 Review - 8 Points & Plays Everyone Is Talking About

3. Aaron Rodgers Will Always Be Aaron Rodgers

NFL Week 1 Review

By half time at Lambeau Field, there was a deadly silence, as the Green Bay fans already thought their season was over. A collective gasp from the crowd watched Rodgers being carted away with an apparent knee injury bring back all too recent memories of the broken collar bone suffered last season. When Rodgers doesn’t play, Green Bay are very average - even the Cheese-heads would agree - but when he emerged from the tunnel in the 3rd quarter, it was similar to a WWE legend returning – simply electric. Green Bay must have felt like Christmas had come early.

The Bears led by 20-0 in the third quarter. Even a battered and bruised Rodgers couldn't salvage anything from this game… could he? What followed in the fourth quarter was unbelievable. Rodgers threw three touchdown passes to alleviate a 17 point deficit. Green Bay won 24-23.

Green Bay have to protect their most valuable asset. If he is injured again, the season will go with it. Aaron Rodgers has proven why he is the best player in the NFL, as well as his worth to a team that have been loyal to him.

He signed the biggest and most lucrative contract in NFL history in recent weeks - $134 million four year extension which can increase to $180 million if all incentives and bonuses are reached is eye watering money – but if anyone deserves it, it is Aaron Rodgers.
