Norwich City: 5 Potential Replacements For Chris Hughton

3. Gianfranco Zola (Unemployed)

47-year-old Gianfranco Zola has emerged as one of the front runners to be Norwich€™s next manager as at 10/1 shot at present. In my opinion, this would be a very high-risk appointment for the club to make given Zola€™s track record. The Italian had a spell in charge of West Ham between 2008 and 2010, but results were certainly mixed as he had a 28.75% win rate. Nevertheless, his form with Watford last season was encouraging even if he did do it with more loan players than is ideal. After losing in the play-offs last season, Watford didn€™t respond awfully well; this led to Zola resigning with his team placed 13th in the Championship in December of last year. However, his team with Watford did at least suggest that he has progressed as a manager €“ and could be ready for another crack at Premier League level. His win percentage with the Hornets was 44%, which is certainly a move in the right direction. However, it remains to be seen if he could achieve similar results in the EPL. The fact that he resigned is also a concern as he might be the type of character that quits when things start to get tough. In my view, Zola doesn€™t have much on Hughton to suggest it would be worth making such a change.
