9. Javi Garcia - Benfica to Manchester City
The most expensive signing of City's deadline day was signed very late on Friday evening, and could have a big influence at the club. Manager Roberto Mancini was adamant that his squad would get a boost on the final day and worked hard to ensure that outcome, leaving it late to complete his fifth deal of the day. In the final minutes before 11pm there were some minor complications but everything was smoothed out in time for the Benfica winger to join the sky blues. Garcia will travel home for the international break before returning to The Etihad to join up with his new teammates. With Mancini exploring several tactical options already this season, and with such a big price tag, Garcia could have a big role to play in the Italian's plans. Especially seeing as the former Real Madrid man has Champions League experience and a Portuguese League title to his name, along with a few cup trophies. A statement on the
club's website shows just how quickly everything was agreed and sorted out in Manchester: "Garcia has chosen to wear the no.14 shirt," it reads.
