Premier League: 10 INSANE Things We Didn't Expect To Happen This Season

9. Chelsea Sacking Roberto Di Matteo

Roberto-dematteo It's difficult to imagine what more Roberto Di Matteo could have done during his all-too-brief stint at Chelsea. Last season, he had led the team to the FA Cup following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas, then topped all that off by landing the Champions League - the first ever in the Blue's history. However, following a 3-0 defeat to Juventus in the group stages of the Champions League earlier this season, a result which ultimately meant oblivion from the competition, the likable Italian was axed. Just one month prior to his sacking, Chelsea were top of the league, which only serves to further underline both the perplexing nature and brutality of his sacking. Rafa Benitez was quickly installed as his successor, and we'll have more on that later.
