2. David Beckham & Sir Alex Ferguson

Beckham In February 2003, Manchester United entertained Arsenal at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. The Red Devils lost the game 0-2, and were eliminated from the competition. During the game, Beckham sustained a leg injury and had to be substituted by Sir Alex Ferguson. After the game, an irate Ferguson took a swipe at a loose boot on the dressing room floor, and inadvertently kicked it into the midfielders face, leaving a visible mark above the players eye. The Consequence Beckham demanded a full public apology from Ferguson in the aftermath of the incident, and later revealed he was to be restrained by teammates after reacting angrily to Ferguson's actions.* Beckham later received his apology from Ferguson, though it was not a public one. The midfielder claimed in his autobiography My Side that he was left seething days after the incident and contemplated retiring from football. The player was obviously involved in plenty of transfer speculation in the coming months. Ferguson and Beckham's relationship began to deteriorate, and he was ultimately sold to Real Madrid.
