7. Emmanuel Adebayor - Monaco To Arsenal

It was eight years ago this month when English football was first introduced to enigma that is Emannuel Adebayor - a player who often divides opinion among football fans. But regardless of his status with fans, there is no doubting that his £3 million transfer to Arsenal in January 2006 was a bargain. The Togo striker was unknown when he arrived at Arsenal, but he quickly proved that he would be a top striker in the Premier League, scoring goals to ensure Arsenal stayed as one of the Premier League's top four teams. His best season came in the 2007/08 season when he scored 24 league goals - second only behind Ballon D'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo - as Arsenal finished third behind Chelsea and Manchester United. After three-and-a-half years with Arsenal, Adebayor left for rivals Manchester City in a deal worth a reported £25 million. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a reputation for buying players cheap and selling them at a large profit.
