QPR Transfer News: Baggies Ban Peter Odemwingie Talks

BBC. The 31-year old was the subject of an unsuccessful R's bid of £3 million last week, which prompted a bitter tirade on Twitter from the player, who has since slapped in a transfer request. Odemwingie is insisting Albion accept QPR's offer, although he has 18 months left on his deal worth £40,000 a week at the Hawthorns. His latest unorthodox attempt to force through his move by arriving at Loftus Road has lit up a relatively ordinary transfer deadline day. An Albion statement tonight read:

"Albion would also like to make clear that Peter has not been given permission to speak to QPR. "Talks have so far proven fruitless."

QPR have since denied that Odemwingie entered Loftus Road this evening, stating that Sky News, who initially reported the incident, had issued a retraction of the claim. Odemwingie had previously appeared optimistic that he would be granted his wish in joining QPR. He told Sky Sports earlier today:

"I hope they will be happy with what they get and, of course, they want to get in players themselves. I just hope that everything will be sorted out in the next few hours."

He has also been quoted as saying he has reached an informal agreement with Albion's technical director Dan Ashworth that he would be allowed to leave the Hawthorns, only to find the situation had changed en-route to London.

"I am disappointed this is all happening. I met with Dan Ashworth this morning and we shook hands that I could leave with his blessing if the £3.5m fee was met," the striker was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. "Now, as I am on my way, I find that there are more complications. It is frustrating to say the least. But I am hopeful a solution can be found."

It is currently being reported that Odemwingie is outside Loftus Road as this is published, as this latest, crazy move nears its conclusion with the transfer window set to close in an hour.
