QPR Transfer News: Harry Redknapp Wants To Sign Peter Crouch Again?

TeamTalk. Crouch, who scored in the 2-2 draw with Wigan last night, had a stint at Loftus Road between 2000 and 2001, and has played for Redknapp before at Spurs, Southampton and Portsmouth. Now they could be reunited for a fourth time. However, Pulis won't allow the England forward to leave unless he can find a replacement before the transfer window closes tomorrow night. Stoke would be short of attacking options were Crouch to leave. The future of Kenwyne Jones, who has recently been linked with a move to Swansea, remains uncertain while Cameron Jerome and Michael Owen have been bit-part players this season. Such is Stoke's striker shortage that Pulis ruled out the possibility of Owen going out on loan this month. Pulis said of QPR's interest in Crouch:

"QPR have enquired about Peter, whether we do it or not you'll have to wait and see. "Harry's rung me up and asked me about the possibility, I've spoken to Peter about it, he knows about it and it's up to Peter as to whether he wants to go. Peter's very happy here, and he's made that clear. "It's got to be right for the player, it's got to be right for the football club. The great thing is that financially we don't have to worry about bringing money in. "If it's right for both parties and the player wants to go then it's very difficult not to let the player go. "The important thing for me is that if he does want to go it's got to be right for us but also we've got to have someone who'll come in and do the same job. "If the deal was right, Peter wanted to go and everything was in place and we couldn't find a replacement then he wouldn't go because that would put the club at risk, and it's too big a season to put the club at risk."
Crouch is one of the most well-traveled players in the Premier League. He began his career with Spurs as a youth-team player in 1995 before breaking into the senior team in 1998. Since then, he has played for eleven other clubs including QPR, as well as Aston Villa, Liverpool and Portsmouth. He has scored 15 goals in 53 appearances for Stoke City.
