7 Things Rangers Fans Can Expect From Mike Ashley (From All Newcastle Fans)
5. An Uncompromising Business Mentality
Considering Rangers' current financial plight, it's unsurprising that they have chosen to go with Ashley. Ignoring for a minute any suggestions that he is there to make more money (he is, and I doubt he'd argue with the fact), he is far from a push-over. Thanks to terrible financial mismanagement - even since the formation of the Newco - Rangers are in dire straits, with creditors knocking down the door for debts that mount every month thanks to over-blown operating costs. Within that context, the idea of any "saviour" coming in and concentrating only on restoring Rangers to the Premier League by throwing money at everything would be a bad idea, as discussed, but what Rangers have done in allowing Ashley in, is to stop any of those emotionally-led consortiums from getting any chance of returning to the table. He has all the cards, and they are in better hands than if they'd gone to a consortium seeking only to improve the team's standing. Like it or not, Ashley is the better devil that you know a little about.
