7 Things Rangers Fans Can Expect From Mike Ashley (From All Newcastle Fans)

4. The Good News/Bad News Stinger

It might seem like an overly emotional thing to say, but as a Newcastle fan it's hard to take good news, because precedent has shown that it's inevitably going to be followed very quickly by bad news. In the past we've seen the return of "iconic" gates, the unveiling of Sir Bobby Robson's statue, memorial gardens and the sacking of Derek Llambias (which wasn't as good as we once thought), but at the same time we've endured a stadium name change, a £1 surcharge on booking tickets, Dennis Wise, and the hiring of Joe Kinnear. Almost every bit of good news at the club comes at a cost. It might no be straight away, but that's usually the dynamic, and the club are even aware of the fact: they set up the naming rights issue at St. James' Park as a PR win for whichever sponsor came in and took over Virgin Money. Whoever that was - even someone as onerous as a legal loan shark for instance - would be able to change the stadium name back to St. James' Park and win fan favour immediately. Sadly for Wonga, it didn't quite work as well as they would probably have liked.
