7. Lewis MacLeod

Desperate for fresh funding and worrying about the short term future of the club, Rangers decided to cash in on one of their prized assets, Murray Park graduate Lewis MacLeod. Since breaking into the first team in 2012, the young midfielder had shown himself to have a lot going for him, thriving under the opportunities afforded to him by then-manager Ally McCoist. Pretty much bossing the Gers midfield and scoring the occasional overhead kick, MacLeod attracted interest from down South. Brentford were the club to come calling in January, 2015, paying an initial £850,000 fee, one which would raise to £1.3 million if the young man made a certain number of appearances. To date, MacLeod hasn't even made a single appearance, injuries suffered at Ibrox have made him a lame duck of a player. In truth, there's a good chance the player could get lost in the shuffle down South even if he was fit. As aforementioned, the English game is richer with talent than the Scottish one, and MacLeod has never been the most physical of players - showing himself to be pretty fragile, there's every chance Brentford might want to ship him back to Rangers, a place he feels comfortable and can regain his fitness once again. It could be of benefit to both parties.
