Rangers Transfers: 9 New Signings Fans Should Be Excited For
Let the Portuguese revolution at Ibrox begin...
Pedro Caixinha isn't messing around during his first Summer transfer window at Ibrox, is he? The disciplinarian has clearly looked at the current Rangers squad and realised how little bang he's getting for his buck with players like Martyn Waghorn, Andy Halliday, Danny Wilson and others.
That's hardly surprising, because - recent off-field problems or not - finishing third in the Scottish Premiership behind Celtic and Aberdeen is unacceptable to Gers fans. The players and previous boss Mark Warburton have to take the blame for a woeful first season back in the top flight.
Caixinha has already secured 5 new signings this Summer, but there's plenty more to come. The Portuguese gaffer obviously wants to make sweeping changes to the way Rangers play too, and that will be welcomed by the fans.
Keep those signings rolling in, Pedro, and you'll maybe put smiles back on upset faces in Govan...
9. Dálcio
It's been depressing to watch how ill-equipped Rangers wide players and attacking midfielders look on a weekly basis. Youngsters like Barry McKay have talent, no doubt, but all too often the homegrown Glaswegian fades out of games. As for Michael O'Halloran, most fans would rather see him disappear completely.
Dálcio is a quick fix for Caixinha after Rangers confirmed his signing. On loan from Benfica's reserve squad, the Portuguese midfielder can be deployed as either a winger or outright attacker. Rangers fans will be hoping to see some more aggression in wide areas, and it's thought the 21-year old can provide that.
If Dálcio can hit the ground running (quite literally) and take defenders on, he'll have success. Rangers made average defences in the Premiership look better than they were all too often last season, so it's high time somebody exploited shaky backlines in teams like Hearts and Aberdeen.
