Canada has long been an MMA hotbed, but the sport was only officially sanctioned in Ontario a few years back, with GSP vs. Shields being the first major MMA event in the province. Ramda Markos comes from that hotbed, but was born in Iraq, so her path to the octagon has been an interesting one to say the least. At just 4-1 and with no experience in any major promotion, she's an underdog, but she's just entering her prime, and it wouldn't be surprising to see her get past the first round.
