Sergio Aguero has been with Manchester City for so long that its easy to forget he too was once an Atletico Madrid player. Signed in 2006 from Argentinian side Independiente, his promising displays had convinced the capital club to spend €20 million on his acquisition, breaking its previous transfer record.

The striker was only 18 when he arrived and after an average debut season, truly hit the throttle.

He became the focal point of Atletico's vanguard as Fernando Torres left for Liverpool and scored goals left, right, and centre, breaking numerous records along the way as well as putting the club on the map by guiding them back into the Champions League.

In five years, he romped to 101 goals from 234 appearances and also lifted the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. He was not only one of the best forwards in La Liga, but also amongst the hottest young prospects and Manchester City snapped him up in 2011.

The rest, as we all know, is history.
