Antoine Griezmann developed his reputation as one of the best up and coming wingers at Real Sociedad, but when he joined Atletico Madrid in 2014 as a replacement for Diego Costa, he started playing more centrally.

This unlocked an extra level or two in his game as the Frenchman appeared more menacing and posted a higher average of goals per season. Griezmann even finished as the club's top-scorer in each of his five years in Madrid, scoring 20+ goals every time.

During that tenure, he helped the side to the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup titles, whilst also thrusting himself into Ballon d'Or conversations.

The Rojiblancos fended off interests from the mightier sides during Griezmann's latter years even though he was eventually priced away by Barcelona in 2019 after the reigning champions met the €120 million buy-out clause in his contract.

He finished with 133 goals from 257 appearances, making him the fifth all-time top goalscorer in Atletico's history.
