Boston, with its huge Irish contingent, was always going to be a fantastic place for this fight. Deemed a #1 contender fight by Dana White, Dennis Siver was an interesting challenge. Siver was 4-1 since dropping down to featherweight, and while McGregor had the reach advantage - and the clear skill advantage on the feet - Siver was always going to be a threat if he could get it down to the ground.

After some even exchanges to start the bout, McGregor found his range quickly and it became obvious that he was just too fast. With the takedown game not working for Siver, it was just a matter of time. McGregor was able to land big with a left cross in the second round. Often a little wary to dive into someone's guard after dropping them, McGregor knew he had Siver beaten and dived on top to finish the fight.

McGregor, with the TD Garden crowd celebrating wildly in the background, jumped the cage and got right in Jose Aldo's face. Aldo was sitting cage-side with a smile on his face as this Irish mad man signalled his intention.

It was an unforgettable image to begin what would end up almost a year of build to Aldo vs. McGregor.
