With Liverpool finally winning the cup with the big ears, many players have made the headlines. Van Dijk, Salah and Mané are strong candidates for the Ballon d'Or. Robertson and Alexander-Arnold are praised as arguably the best full-backs in the world. Alisson showed again why he is one of the world's finest. Origi further cemented his status of cult hero. Henderson's finally getting the acclaim he deserves. It's been a glorious season for the Reds, and one in which Naby Keita, truth be told, has been a complete afterthought.

It was hard not to get excited, as the highlight videos from his Leipzig performances were mouth-watering. This writer remembers comments on Liverpool forums predicting Keita would "take the Premier League by storm" and was "the missing piece to win the title". And just look at the title of this article. Reality hit hard.

Keita's technique is apparent from the minute he touches a ball, as is his desire to drive it forward and play good-looking football. But his decision-making is off. No one denies he's a good dribbler and a good passer: the problem is he dribbles when he shouldn't and doesn't pass when he should. His positioning and tactical awareness have been merely okay. Two goals and one assist are depressingly disappointing stats.

That being said, Keita is 24. If he manages to find his form next season and is lucky not to get injured, he can become an amazing player. That means there's a possibility that in one year's time, Klavan being ahead of him in this list could sound absolutely foolish. But as of now...
