Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

5. Mario Balotelli

Peter Byrne/PA Wire Balotelli has to be one of the most divisive footballers in world football. There are plenty of people who think he is an overrated, disruptive waste of space, but equally there are some who feel he has the potential to be one of the world's best strikers if he knuckles down. When Liverpool signed him there was an unsurprisingly huge reaction, but it's fair to say his time at Anfield has been pretty woeful so far. The 24-year-old has managed to score just twice in 15 appearances for Rodgers' side, and he is yet to register his first league goal for the Reds. His performances have been hugely frustrating on the whole, despite the odd glimmer of class, with a combination of erratic shooting, poor work-rate and selfish behaviour all angering the Liverpool faithful. Prior to injury, he was expected to be the main man with Sturridge out, but he just didn't deliver. There are strong rumours that Rodgers never even wanted Balotelli in the first place, and that he was a last-minute panic buy, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Italian offloaded sooner rather than later. He is back fit again, and if he fails to show what he is made of in the coming weeks, you can't help but feel he never will.
