Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

6. Lazar Markovic

Twitter Markovic was seen as a hugely impressive signing in the summer, having cost £19.8m from Benfica. The Serbia international was seen as one of hottest young properties in European football, and was expected to be an instant hit on Merseyside. So far, however, the 20-year-old has struggled massively, looking completely off the pace time and time again. The speed and power of the Premier League seems to have troubled him enormously, but more worrying is the fact that his supposed brilliant touch, dribbling skills and pace have been largely non-existent. On top of that, his needless sending off against Basel played a big part in Liverpool exiting the Champions League- a lot of people claimed it was harsh at the time, but there was no need for his arms to be flailing. There are many cases of highly-rated foreigners struggling in their first season in England, whether it be Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp or numerous other stars, and the hope is that Markovic will suddenly come alive once he adjusts to life in the Premier League. So far it doesn't look too promising though.
