Ranking Newcastle's Transfer Dealings 2014-15 - Outgoings

10. James Tavernier - Released (Signed For Wigan Athletic And Then Loaned To Bristol City)

Season Rating: 5 Success Of Sale Rating: 6 Right-back James Tavernier was another released at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, and he went on to sign for Wigan Athletic before being loaned out to Bristol City, who were promoted as League One champions. Although only ever a reserve-team player, Tavernier could have been called upon during Newcastle's defensive crisis this season. It is completely understandable why he was allowed to leave, but in hindsight the Magpies could have done with at least a couple more defensive bodies.
