Not only did the Black Cats finish 7th in their first season back in the top flight thanks to Kevin Phillips and Niall Quinn's goalscoring heroics, but they did so while wearing the two greatest Sunderland shirts of the Premier League era. The away kit was previously used with the Lambtons logo, but the Reg Vardy sponsor was brought in for the Premier League season and looked even better.
