Scepticism is bound to run rampant after it was revealed this afternoon that Remy Cabella was 'happy' with the personal terms Newcastle have offered ahead of a proposed move to St James' Park. Although the Club have yet to agree a fee with Montpellier for Cabella - our initial £7 million bid was rejected at the weekend - the Chronicle are reporting that the 24-year-old is reassuringly open to joining the Magpies this summer and is satisfied with the contract suggested by a representative. It would mark significant progress in a deal that is threatening to become another long-winded transfer saga with our reluctance to open the cheque book and match French side's asking price resulting in a stalemate on that front. Cabella could still yet go to the World Cup should Franck Ribery withdraw from the France squad due to a back injury but it's understood that he fancies a crack at playing regularly in the Premier League next season. That is something he would be guaranteed at Newcastle. Now the difficult part. Having already had an offer rejected by Montpellier it remains to be seen whether Mike Ashley is willing to put forward the extra £4m that would bring Cabella to Tyneside. Quite frankly it's the least he can do after failing to provide a permanent signing for 18 months.
