Ryan Giggs: 10 Greatest Moments At Man Utd

5. 1999 Champions League Final vs Bayern

There was a lot of good fortune about Manchester United's Champions League triumph in 1999. After falling behind to a Mario Basler free-kick, Bayern Munich came within a crossbar and a post of doubling and tripling their lead, before United famously came from behind to win. The final in Barcelona is remembered for the most famous toe poke in history, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prodding in the winner on the far post deep into stoppage time. But there was also a slightly less-famous scuffed shot from Ryan Giggs before all that, as the Welshman swiped a miscued shot across the penalty area, only for the ball to skid to the feet of Teddy Sheringham to sweep the ball home for 1-1. We all know what happened next, and soon Giggs was celebrating what would turn out to be the first of two Champions League wins in his career, with his contribution at the death just as vital as Sheringham and Solskjaer's goals.
