Sport Witness have cited an article in a Spanish sports newspaper as proof Man City striker Sergio Agüero is wanted by Atlético Madrid.

The article claims that Agüero has been offered back to his former club because he's currently unsettled with life at City and doesn't believe he's viewed as an "untouchable player" by Pep Guardiola. Diego Simeone, Atlético's boss, is said to be high on the idea of bringing the Argentinian back to Spain.

Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Simeone wouldn't want to break the bank on any proposed move for Agüero, and that's where the story falls down slightly. Whilst it is possible Agüero is doubtful over where he stands at City next season, it's hard to see the player leaving the Etihad for anything less than a substantial sum of money.

Agüero is still one of City's top forwards, is considered a club legend for his 143 goals and is still only 29 years of age. All of those factors mean he'd come at a premium for any potential buyers, Atlético included.

There's a possibility Madrid will bid for his services, but it's difficult to see City offering Agüero to other teams before they have a suitable replacement.
