8. Jack Colback - 6
Much like his playing partner in the middle Vurnon Anita, Colback began with some neat passes and a few nice tackles, but then his effectiveness waned as the game wore on. Almost certain to be a starter in Steve McClaren's side come the first Premier League match against Southampton, when Colback is in the mood then Newcastle really tick. Early on it looked like it could well be one of those days when both Colback and Newcastle were at their brilliant best, but unfortunately Jose Baxter and Marc McNulty made life difficult for the midfielder. Still needs to offer a greater presence in attack - and defence - on a far more regular basis for Newcastle.
