Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United: Getting Tense At Top of League One!

The games are evening up and the points totals are getting closer at the top of league 1!

The games are evening up and the points totals are getting closer at the top of league 1! With the majority of the games in hand played and the rest in the foreseeable future, we can now really see how the table is shaping up for the last push of the season. Sheffield United played their game in hand over rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night and managed a draw and a valuable point against a strong Colchester side, a point that could prove crucial come the end of the season. Huddersfield and MK Dons still have a game in hand on their top of the table counterparts and could still take over from Wednesday in 3rd place, all be it on goal difference. If they do so they would also be just 2 points behind United after the blades had opened up a 7-point gap at one point in the season. Achange of manager at Hillsborough seems to have revitalized an already potent strike force, with 7 goals for and just one conceded in the last 2 games, with Dave Jones seeming to tweak the good work Gary Megson had been implementing before his shock sacking earlier in the month. But can MK Dons be ruled out just yet? If they win their game in hand they go only 2 points behind the Owls, and 4 points behind United, not a lot in a season that has seen so much swapping and changing at the top already! It seems Charlton have now ran away with the title, being 9 points in front of second place United, although they did see a slight dip in form with home losses to Notts County and Colchester, however they seem to have recovered and are now sprinting to the finish line after their 4-0 victory over Chesterfield. Huddersfield and Wednesday still have to play, Huddersfield and Charlton still have to play, MK Dons and United still have to play and Wednesday also have 6th placed Notts County. Looking at the fixtures Huddersfield seem to have the trickiest run in on paper, however, as the old cliché goes, anything can happen in football. It could be a case of who can hold their nerve, Wednesday have a manager who is more than familiar with the play off situation in Dave Jones, who has been involved in numerous play off contentions while in charge of Wolves and Cardiff, this should stand them in good stead. MK Dons and Huddersfield have been at this end of the league for a good few seasons now, and should know what it takes to finish the job off and cement a play off place at a minimum, and Sheffield United have players who are used to playing at a much higher level, all in all each team has different reasons for coping with the promotion push, but which one will prevail?
