2. Matthew Le Tissier (retired)
When thinking about some of the greatest attacking midfielders that we have seen in the Premier League, Matthew Le Tissier has to be fairly high up on the list. Many think that it is remarkable that Le Tissier only played eight times for England over the course of his career. It was also perhaps fairly extraordinary that the player played almost his entire career with Southampton, a strange thing to consider with the way that players move around these days. But it's important to remember that it was a very successful spell for the club. In total, Le Tissier scored 161 goals from 443 league games. He was certainly a player that goes down as one of the finest ever seen in the Premier League. When he played English talent in the top-flight was obviously fairly common, and hopefully we will see a return of those days in the future. Foreign players will always be attracted to playing in the EPL, but teams like Southampton are at least giving English talent a chance.
