8. Aaron Hunt

Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez's attacking qualities have been one of the high points of Southampton's season, but they lack depth in attacking midfield and wing options when these two are unavailable. Mercurial Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez and clumsy Brazilian Guly do Prado do not have the same level of threat as the two England internationals, so Saints will need strength in this area. Aaron Hunt is a talented and incisive winger with the ability to play across the middle or up front as well, so would be a good fit to the swift passing game that Southampton play under Mauricio Pochettino. The German international has spent his entire career with Werder Bremen, but he is half English and his family in England has meant that Hunt has often been linked with a move to the Premier League. In particular, there have been the strongest indications yet that Hunt has asked Werder to let him move this summer with clubs including Tottenham and Newcastle interested. Over the January transfer window, however, there were strong suggestions that Hunt had been talking with representatives from Saints. Since then chairman Cortese has departed, but maintaining interest in Hunt would remain worthwhile.
