Southampton Transfers: 5 More Players Who Could Leave (And 5 Who Could Join)

4. Jack Cork

After a loan spell back in 2008, Cork arrived at Southampton from Chelsea permanently in 2011 and has racked up over 100 appearances for the club. However, as Southampton have improved the 6 foot tall central midfielder has become less vital to their future plans. England Under-20 star James Ward-Prowse has often taken Cork's place in the Saints midfield and only looks like getting better (until he too is snapped up by a bigger club), while the 25 year old Cork has probably fulfilled his potential.

One of a handful of players that have helped Southampton get where they are today but who now only have a year left to run on their contracts, Cork may look to move somewhere that he is more guaranteed first team football. Swansea, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all interested in offering just that. As he is not a guaranteed first teamer at the moment, Southampton may not miss Cork as badly as some of the other players linked with a move, but he has always been a valuable member of a squad that is severely lacking in depth right now.
