Recently he has been reported as showing a strong interest in bringing his former Feyenoord captain Jordy Clasie to St. Mary's and the so-called "Dutch Xavi" may be just what Southampton need to take control of their midfield in the absence of their French star. Benfica have also been showing interest in the 23 year old Netherlands international, though, and the Europa League winners have the lure of European football to offer. The possibility of his move to Southampton may, therefore, be a bit of a long shot.
