Spurs 0-0 West Ham: Naughton Unfairly Sent Off, Noble Misses Penalty

Midfielder squanders chance after controversial red card.

Mauricio Pochettino's first game in the Premier League for Spurs hasn't started to plan and the manager now faces the harsh reality of playing for most of the game with ten men after Kyle Naughton was unfairly red carded for a hand ball in the box. It is true enough that Naughton's hands were well above his head, and he could well have saved Kevin Nolan's shot from hitting the back of the net, sending him off was particularly excessive considering the penalty was given. Sadly for West Ham, having watched Naughton leave the pitch, Mark Noble stepped up and put his penalty effort wide... https://vine.co/v/M3Z9BB5zem9 Spurs must now attempt to play to their plan B - which Pochettino might not even have yet - as West Ham look to capitalise on their man advantage. The real problem for Pochettino is that the extra man could give key man Kevin Nolan more space behind the midfield, and the way Allardyce likes to play, the team will look to take advantage in that very specific way. Can Spurs survive the West Ham onslaught?
