Spurs' 10 Best Set-Piece Experts Of The Premier League Era
7. Rafael Van Der Vaart
Time At Spurs: 2010-2012. Set-Piece Specialty: Indirect Free Kicks, Direct Free Kicks. Simply put, Rafael van der Vaart was an all-round class act for Spurs and it's a real shame that they let him go back to Germany with Hamburg. He was particularly good at taking free kicks - both direct and indirect - as his magical left foot left a lasting impression on the White Hart Lane faithful. Two specific instances stand out in the memory in particular - one direct free kick and one indirect free kick - which emphasises his versatility when it came to a dead ball. The first was a pre-season game in the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa against Orlando Pirates, when he smashed in a great free kick in to the top corner of the opposition goal, and the second was an in-swinging free kick which Younes Kaboul got on the end of to score the winner at Arsenal in the North London derby.
