Spurs' 10 Best Set-Piece Experts Of The Premier League Era
6. David Bentley
Time At Spurs: 2008-2013. Set-Piece Specialty: Corners, Direct Free Kicks, Indirect Free Kicks. The story of David Bentley's time at White Hart Lane is a sad one. The winger was brought in from Blackburn Rovers for more than £15 million and was expected to do big things with Spurs, but it was not to be and he has since retired from football - but he was certainly an all-rounder when it came to set-pieces and he showed what he could do from dead ball situations. He scored with an in-swinging free kick on his White Hart Lane debut in a 5-0 pre-season win against Roma and went on to become the club's designated set-piece taker in the short amount of time that he actually spent on the pitch whilst at the club. He would take corners, indirect free kicks and, of course, direct free kicks, scoring a couple from dead ball situations - including one in the memorable 9-1 home victory against Wigan Athletic.
