Spurs: 10 Things Pochettino Must Do To Make His Side A Force Next Season
8. Reinforce Weaker Positions
All new managers want to make their stamp on a team and this is usually done by signing new players and changing the way the team lines up or plays. We have already discussed Pochettino's faith in youth and while some will be brought in to the team, some areas will have to be enhanced by signing new players. Some of these areas are easier to identify than others. Most fans would tell you that Tottenham probably need a new left back, at least one centre back, an additional striker and another winger; considering the club spent £105 million last summer, this is quite damning of the club's management and buying strategy but that is an article for another day. How much Pochettino will get to spend has yet to be revealed, but he will need to address these weaknesses as best he can this summer. Few players at the squad are not talented enough to be there, but some are weaker and do need significant coaching to match the promise previously seen in them. Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton have made significant errors which have led to silly goals being conceded. Having rivals in the squad for their places would not only help the team, but might help to step their game up. If the Argentine can enhance his squad and help develop these players, the squad will be stronger for the challenge ahead.
