Spurs 2-1 Sheriff Tiraspol - Player Ratings

Etienne Capoue: Played as a third centre back at times. Broke forward and lashed a long range effort across goal and wide. Subbed on return as expected, but gave plenty. 6/10. Mousa Dembele: Ghosted past two Sheriff players and unleashed a strong strike turned behind by keeper Tomic. Another effort was deflected behind. The fluid movement ahead of him suits Dembele as he always has options. 6.5/10. Erik Lamela: Man of the match by a country mile. A threat right across advanced midfield areas. Linked up well with his teammates using lovely skills and superb feet. Lamela drew fouls like Gareth Bale did before him. Influential off either flank and always went looking for the ball. Swapped with Sigurdsson before half time and broke his duck for Tottenham on the hour. Saw a first half penalty appeal turned down but won one after the break. A swarm of yellow Sheriff shirts could not stop him fairly. 8.5/10. Christian Eriksen: Danish number ten tailor made for fluid midfield, but didn't always impose himself. A square ball in front of back four almost punished by Ricardinho. Let fly from 25 yards after the break and denied by fine fingertips stop from Tomic. Subbed. 6.5/10.
