Spurs: 6 Reasons Tim Sherwood Is The Right Man For The Job

4. He's A Leader

If there's one trait that any person in a position of authority needs - particularly in such a big, high profile role like a Premier League manager job - it's the ability to lead. Tim Sherwood undoubtedly possesses that ability. He leads by example - in his playing days he was 100% committed to his team's cause, giving his everything in every single game. That's the kind of man Spurs need in charge, because if there's one thing they've lacked in recent years it's a bit of grit and someone decidedly authoritative in charge - someone who will tell the team they're doing well when that's the case, but who will give them one hell of a talking to when they're not. Andre Villas-Boas was too timid. You can't imagine him giving an authoritative, aggressive, motivating team talk when the team are losing at half time. Harry Redknapp was renowned for his man-management skills, and you can certainly imagine him shouting at his players, but was he ever truly a leader? Debatable. Sherwood, of course, captained Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title, so he even has experience of success at the highest level as a leader. Sherwood is the kind of man a young player should look up to and look to follow unconditionally, because you can guarantee that he would be prepared to do whatever it is he tells his team to do. There'll certainly be no hypocrisy in a Tim Sherwood team talk.
