Spurs: 6 Reasons Tim Sherwood Is The Right Man For The Job
3. He's No-Nonsense
As touched upon in the last point, Sherwood is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point man who doesn't beat around the bush. That's the kind of individual you want in charge of a club. There are no hidden agendas with Sherwood, no misunderstandings with regard to what he says and nothing is kept back. If Sherwood wants to say something or get a point across, he will say it or get it across indefinitely. As a player, he was all about getting the job done. It might not have been pretty, but it was effective. He got stuck in, he won the ball and if an opponent had wronged him in any way he let them know in the best way possible - a tough, no-nonsense tackle. Translating that to his coaching has come effortlessly to Sherwood and that comes across every time Spurs play. There's more belief and more grit to their performances. When Andre Villas-Boas was in charge, it was all about patient (and, frankly, boring) build-up play. With Sherwood in charge, it's more a case of attack, attack, attack when going forward and defend, defend, defend when they're on the back foot. It sounds obvious but, if it was, why wasn't Andre Villas-Boas getting the best out of the exact same squad of players? Once Sherwood has more experience behind him, combining it with his no-nonsense approach will undoubtedly turn him in to one of the best coaches around.
