Spurs: 6 Reasons Tim Sherwood Is The Right Man For The Job
2. He Knows The Club
Having both played for the club he is now in charge of between 1999 and 2003, and having been on the coaching staff in some capacity since 2008, Sherwood knows the club better than anyone else currently on the payroll. That kind of inside knowledge about what is available in terms of resources and what is expected in terms of performance and dedication could be the edge that Spurs have over any given team that they come up against. Arguably, the only present fellow Premier League manager who has more experience inside the club he is currently in charge of is Arsene Wenger - and he doesn't have the advantage of having played for the club he is leading or having witnessed the workings of the managers who came before him. A prime example of why this is an advantage to Sherwood is Nabil Bentaleb. Having worked with the youth set-up in the past, Sherwood saw enough in Bentaleb to give him a chance in the Premier League - and boy has it paid dividends. Bentaleb has settled in to the Premier League as well as any of Spurs' big money summer signings and has breathed new life in to their midfield. Andre Villas-Boas had only given the French-born player a single substitute bench appearance - but Sherwood had been able to see enough of the player to know he was ready for the first team. You can't buy that kind of knowledge.
