Spurs Dream XI For The Premier League Opener

1. Romelu Lukaku (Striker)

Spurs fans will definitely be hoping for a change of fortunes as far as strikers go this season - and long-term target Romelu Lukaku could be the man to help with that. Although Spurs have Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane at the club, all of those men come with their issues (Adabayor is inconsistent, Soldado has yet to prove he can score regularly in the Premier League and Kane is young and yet to truly prove he's good enough to play at Spurs) and a proven Premier League goalscorer with years ahead of him is something they need quite desperately. Having scored 17 Premier League goals in the 2012-13 season for West Bromwich Albion, Lukaku scored another 14 for Everton last season (both in loan spells) and, remarkably, he is still only 21 years of age. He played for Belgium in this year's World Cup and he didn't do great - aside from one memorable impact performance from the bench against the United States - but that doesn't take away from the fact that he has done well in the Premier League for two seasons. Spurs fans would love him to sign from London rivals Chelsea - but how realistic that is, given how difficult it is to deal with Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich if you're a direct rival to Chelsea, it's by no means a certainty. Seeing him leading the line against West Ham would be great. So there you have it - the dream Tottenham Hotspur XI for the Premier League opener. Do Spurs fans agree with this team? Who would you not include in the team to face West Ham from this list? Who would you bring in instead? Let us know in the comments area below. And please feel free to follow me on Twitter!
