Spurs Fans' 10 Most Hated Players Of The Modern Era
6. Dimitar Berbatov
Dimitar Berbatov is one of the four most high-profile exits from Spurs since the turn of the millennium. He followed Michael Carrick to Old Trafford - a couple of years after the Geordie midfielder - and preceded the exits of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, but he was the first superstar to truly kick up a fuss in order to leave and that's why a lot of Spurs fans dislike their former goalscoring hero. Spurs signed Berbatov from Bayer Leverkusen in Germany for around £11 million (making him the most expensive Bulgarian footballer ever) and turned him from a good player in to a great player. After two great years with the club, he attracted the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and this unsettled him. His attitude began to stink as he tried to force a move to Old Trafford and he was dropped for his final games at the club, until he finally made a £30.75 million move to Manchester at the close of the summer transfer window in 2008. Although some fans have got over his apparent treachery, many still see him as the man who made it okay to rebel against Spurs in order to aggressively force a move away from the club - and that has made him a generally unpopular figure at White Hart Lane.
