Spurs Fans: Which Left Back Should Tottenham Sign?

Cole, Shaw, Rojo or someone else?

Even in spite of the fact that the biggest international competition in world football is currently in full swing, domestic transfer rumours persist at this time of year. It might only be the end of June - and the transfer window doesn't officially open for more than a month - but it's always this period in the build-up to it opening when the weirdest and most wonderful transfer rumours are relentlessly published in the press. As usual, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are leading the way on the rumour front, with players constantly being linked to White Hart Lane left, right and centre. Of course, the fact that a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino has just been installed doesn't help matters and the frenzied transfer activity at the club last summer only heightens expectation for this one. Spurs spent around £100 million this time last year, with no less than seven players coming in, following the high profiles sales of Gareth Bale and several other members of the first team squad. However, the troublesome left back position was not addressed. Benoit Assou-Ekotto left the club on loan (and will be unlikely to return following his disgraceful behaviour at the World Cup last week) and Danny Rose was left as the only senior player in that position. When Rose was injured, the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Naughton had to fill in (a natural centre back and right back, respectively), and this left Spurs extremely vulnerable on that side on the pitch - plus, it's debatable as to whether Danny Rose is even good enough when he's fit. As a result, a new left back should be a priority and, if the rumours are to be believed, Pochettino is indeed looking to strengthen Spurs in that area. Players of varying ages and abilities from all over the world are being linked with potential moves to the club - some of which are more realistic prospective signings than others - and it will be interesting to see exactly how it pans out. So, Spurs fans, of those names that have been thrown around (no matter how realistic they might be), which left back would you like to see plying his trade at White Hart Lane next season?
