Spurs Transfer Deadline Day: 10 Major Deals That Could Happen
2. Jay Rodriguez To Spurs
Although Southampton have apparently warned Spurs off in their pursuit of England forward Jay Rodriguez, don't be surprised if that does nothing to stop their potential chase. Mauricio Pochettino has been keen on Rodriguez since last summer, having managed him when he was boss of Southampton, and continues to admire the player even though he has been out injured since last April. In spite of the fact that Rodriguez scored fifteen goals for the Saints last term and broke in to the national team set-up, he might actually find it quite difficult to get back in to the side when he returns (which is generally expected to happen in February). In Spurs' system, Rodriguez could potentially play in the trio behind the striker or as the lone striker and his proven ability to score goals in the Premier League would be vital to the club. Both Manchester City and Liverpool are said to be interested, which could pose a problem to Spurs, but don't be surprised to see them attempt to take him to White Hart Lane.
