Spurs Transfer News: Andrea Pirlo Could Join On A Free?

Daily Mail. Spurs have been alerted to growing uncertainty over the Italy veteran's future at Juve and believe he could be tempted by one final career move to test himself in England or Spain. The north London club have even followed up their interest by exploring the possibility of landing the legendary 34-year-old on a free contract at the end of the season. These claims are backed up by former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli. A studio guest for Juventus's 3-2 win over AC Milan, Vialli was asked for a comment on Pirlo's contract stand-off with the Serie A champions. He replied:

"I heard the rumours from London that there are contacts between Pirlo and Tottenham for next season."
Viali did not expand on this brief statement, though is well placed to comment considering he spends up to five days a week in the English capital. Pirlo was on hand to score the opening goal in Juve's win over Milan, but his future is far from secure as he is effectively on trial at Juventus Stadium and must persuade manager Antonio Conte that he warrants a contract extension. A decision is expected to be made in the New Year, and if it is decided he has served his purpose at Juventus, it is believed Pirlo will move abroad. Tottenham appear to be the first English side to respond to developments, but could yet face competition from elsewhere on the continent, with Spain another potential destination.
