Spurs Transfer News: Lewis Holtby In Swap Deal For Ron Vlaar?

Villa defender reportedly top of Mauricio Pochetinno's list after missing out on Dejan Lovren.

News has broken today that Aston Villa's defender Ron Vlaar has been placed as Mauricio Pochetinno's number one defensive target after missing out on Dejan Lovren. Spurs are already building from the back with recent arrivals of Michel Vorm and Ben Davies from Swansea City and Ron Vlaar could be next on the target list. Vlaar, who won over many fans after his strong displays for Holland in the World Cup, is hot property and Villa manager Paul Lambert has already said he is not for sale but that won't deter Daniel Levy in his quest to get Spurs back into the Champions League. One way around Lambert's reluctance to sell Vlaar to a Premier league rival will be Spurs plans to use either Michael Dawson and Lewis Holtby in a swap deal to benefit the Villains. The deal is likely to start coming to fruition once Liverpool confirm Lovren has joined and Spurs can turn their full focus on the centre half better known as "Concrete Ron". What were your impressions of Ron Vlaar for Holland in the World Cup? Will he drastically improve the defence at White Hart Lane? source - the guardian
