Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Confirm Robert Soldado Signing

Teamtalk. Soldado, who was signed by Valencia in 2010 to replace the outgoing David Villa, is said to be due at White Hart Lane today to undergo a medical. A statement on Tottenham's club website said;

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical."
The Spanish club€™s president Amadeo Salvo had previously revealed that the deal has been agreed and was edging towards completion, and it was only agent fees that were holding it up.
"A problem has arisen with the agents." - Amadeo Salvo
The news will give Tottenham fans much needed respite from the relentless Gareth Bale headlines that are dominating the media. Whether or not Soldado will be lining up alongside the Welshman in a Spurs shirt next season is still a prospect that is up in the air, as the superstar winger could be heading in the opposite direction to La Liga giants Real Madrid if reports are to be believed. Spurs will reportedly pay Valencia ‚12m up front, with the rest of the cash being paid in three instalments of ‚6m over the next three years. The club will hope that Soldado, who is 28 and scored 30 goals in 46 competitive games last season, will provide the goals that their strikers lacked last season - a season in which they missed out on Champions League football to their local rivals Arsenal by a single point.
