Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham To Sign Free Agent Carlton Cole?

Metro. Spurs have played down speculation that the former England striker is set for a summer move to White Hart Lane, despite the fact the ex-West Ham star is believed to be training with the North London club. The news comes after rumours that Cole played - and scored - in a behind-closed-doors friendly against non-league Enfield Town at Spurs€™ training ground were dismissed. A Lilywhite's source claims all goalscorers in the 11-0 battering were contracted Tottenham players with the club's new record signing Roberto Soldado believed to have grabbed himself a hat-trick against the minnows. Nevertheless, Cole could still be an option for Spurs - who are believed to be in the market for one more striker - after being released from Upton Park at the end of last season. It remains unclear at this stage whether Cole's alleged training with the club is part of an effort by Tottenham to sign the 29-year-old or whether he is just keeping up his match fitness ahead of a proposed move elsewhere. Cole ended his seven-year association with the Hammers this summer after making 27 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals.
