Spurs Transfers: 4 Reasons Why Gareth Bale's Really Not Worth £78 Million

4. Injuries

Bale Injured Let€™s face it, Gareth Bale is injury prone. A foot injury hampered Bale€™s development in the early stages of his career, keeping him sidelined for a large part of his first two years at White Hart Lane and limiting him to just 24 league appearances between 2007-09. Then, in June 2009, the Wales international underwent surgery for a knee injury, ruling him out for over two months and restricting him to 23 appearances in the 2009-10 campaign. Out of the six seasons he has spent at White Hart Lane, half of his time there has been spent in the treatment room or on the sidelines at various stages. Though the last three seasons have been relatively injury free, Bale still spent time out last term with an ankle injury and you can't help but have concerns for a player with such a patchy record, especially one who is supposedly worth £78 million. Are Real wise to make such a huge investment, injury record considered?
