Spurs Transfers: 5 Better Striking Options Than David Villa

2. Roberto Soldado

Valencia's prolific marksman Roberto Soldado is also on Andre Villas-Boas' transfer wishlist and the former Real Madrid ace has been in free-scoring from this season. The Spaniard netted 22 league goals last season and 28 in all competitions and a delegation from Spurs watched the 27-year old in action against Real Sociedad last month as the club weigh up a £20 million bid. Villas-Boas will be hoping to take full advantage of Valencia's financial woes who, like so many other Spanish clubs, are suffering with monetary problems. Soldado was once valued at £30 million but Spurs could land him for a knock-down fee given the La Liga outfit's aforementioned issues off the field. Soldado has just enjoyed his most prolific season at the Mestalla and would represent a fine signing for Villas-Boas, especially if he can shave £10 million off the fee.
