Spurs Transfers: 5 Better Striking Options Than David Villa

1. Leandro DamiĆ£o

Leandro Damiao Of course, out of all of Andre Villas-Boas' rumoured transfer targets, Internacional's Leandro Damiao stands head and shoulders above the rest. The Brazilian has been a target for Tottenham for months and came close to moving to White Hart Lane back in January, though Spurs failed with their deadline day bid. This summer could be a different story however with reports claiming Tottenham have already opened negotiations with the Brazilian club, with England being his most likely next destination, according to club president Giovanni Luigi. The South Americans recently rejected an approach from Italian side Napoli, who angered Luigi by approaching the player's agent before contacting club officials, and Internacional are now unlikely to do business with the Serie A outfit. Luigi said:
"Recently we talked with Tottenham, Leandro is very likely to play games in England in the coming year. On the other hand, we can exclude Napoli."
Those comments would seem to put Spurs in pole position for the striker's signature, and it is now surely only a matter of time before business is done.
